Zăbrani ( German  Guttenbrunn , Hungarian Temeshidegkút ) is a municipality in the Arad district , Banat , Romania . The villages of Chesinț and Neudorf belong to the municipality of Zăbrani .

location

Zăbrani is located on the northern edge of the Banat, about 5 km south of the Marosch . The place is crossed by the Arad – Lipova road and has a connection to the railway network via the Timișoara – Radna ( Lipova ) railway.

history

In 1724 the first German families were settled on a hill. The place was named Guttenbrunn . The first church was built in 1730. In 1736 more German families were settled in Guttwill . In 1764 the Guttwill site was ceded to Guttenberg. 1753 came 17 new families from Lorraine and the Black Forest and settled in Sabran (Romanian Zăbrani ). In 1930 Guttenbrunn and Zăbrani were merged.

In the high Theresian settlement period, the place was expanded again by settlements, until 1771 148 houses were built here by the impopulation director Carl Samuel Neumann Edler von Buchholt . At the same time, the location was regulated. Additional streets were added to the rectangular core of the village, which form a right angle in the ground plan.

On April 9, 1995, the museum memorial in honor of the Banat Swabian writer Adam Müller-Guttenbrunn (1852–1923) was reopened in a festive setting. The extensive renovation and refurbishment was financed by the German Cultural Heritage Foundation established by the former ambassador in Romania, Klaus Terfloth , by the Landsmannschaft der Banat Swabians and the Bavarian State Government. The guests of honor at the event included the representatives of the Banat Swabian Landsmannschaft and the Democratic Forum of Germans from the Banat , the Ministerial Councilor of the Bavarian State Government Bruno Lieschke and the Arad Prefect Avram Craciun. The memorial, which has five exhibition rooms, was set up in the center of the village in the post office.

As early as 1921, on the initiative of the German Swabian Cultural Association , of which Michael Kausch was chairman , a plaque with the following text was placed on the street facade of Adam Müller-Guttenbrunn's birth house: “Birthplace of the Swabian homeland poet Adam Müller-Guttenbrunn born. Dedicated on October 22, 1852 by the Guttenbrunn community at the suggestion of the local branch of the 1921 Cultural Association. "

In the 1990s, a second plaque in Romanian was installed next to this plaque.

The inscription reads: "The Swabian writer Adam Müller-Guttenbrunn was born in this house on October 22nd, 1852."
