history

Archaeological excavations between 1896 and 1897 and 1975 in Păuliş and the surrounding area show that these areas were already inhabited in the Early Stone Age.

According to the historian Sándor Marki, the name comes from Palelese , Paulilise , Palülese (German: Paul's seat). The German place name is Paulisch , Hungarian Palos and Romanian Păuliș . After colonization with Germans, the old district was called Altpaulisch (Hungarian: Ópalos , Romanian: Păulişul Vechi ) and the new district was called Neupaulisch (Hungarian: Ujpalos , Romanian: Păulişul Nou ).

Since time immemorial, mainly Romanians, Germans and Hungarians have lived in Păuliș, who had settled here because of viticulture . Păuliș became known for its viticulture, which was carried out on steep slopes and in their own vineyards.

Păuliş has "made history" through the heroic resistance struggles of the "Radna NCO School" in the autumn of 1944 against the fascist troops. Not far from the entrance to the village is the memorial , which is supposed to preserve the memory of the fallen NCO students.

administration

From 1718 to 1778 Paulisch belonged to the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat . After the Austro-Hungarian Compromise , Palos was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . As a result of the Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920, the Banat was divided into three parts, whereby Păuliş fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
