history

The first written mention of Belső Iratos comes from 1418.

Over the centuries different spellings of the place name appeared: 1418 Belső Iratos , 1446 Irathos , 1454 Irathos, 1484 Nagh Iratos , 1498 Irathos , 1517, 1527, 1537, 1558 Nagh Iratos , 1560 Nagyh Iratos , 1562 Nagy Iratos , 1671 Nagh Iratos , 1777 Nagyiratos , 1808 praedium Irátos , Nagyirátos , 1839 Nagy Iratos , 1851 Almásy-Nagy-Iratos , Forray-Nagy-Iratos , 1858, 1863 Forrai-Nagy-Iratos , 1873 Iratos (Forrai Nagy-), 1877 Nagy- Iratos ( Iratos , Iratos Forray-, Nagy-), 1882 Iratos (Forray-Nagy-), Forrai-Nagy-Iratos , 1893 Iratos (Forray-, Nagy-), 1900 Forraynagyiratos , 1913 Nagyiratos , 1921 Iratoşul mare , Nagyiratos , 1925 Iratoş , 1932, 1941 Iratoşul , 1950 Iratoşul , 1956 Iratoşu .

After the Peace of Karlowitz (1699), Arad and the Maroscher Land came under Austrian rule , while the Banat south of the Marosch remained under Turkish rule until the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) . The village was completely depopulated during the Turkish era. On the Josephine land survey are Kiss Iratosz and Nagy Iratosz registered as Pusta. In 1787 György Szalbek bought Nagyirato's predium. The village was founded between 1810 and 1820 when the Szalbek family set up a tobacco plantation here.

As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Arad region, like the whole of Banat and Transylvania, was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy . The official place name was Nagyiratos .

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in border regulation, whereby Iratoșu fell to the Kingdom of Romania . As a result, Romanians, mainly from Bihor County , settled in Iratoșu. These established two new streets, next to the five inhabited by Hungarians.
