history

The first written mention of the Dezna fortress comes from the year 1318. The development of the village of Dezna is closely linked to the history of the castle of the same name. According to some historians, the place name comes from the Dacer king Decebalus . Dezna Fortress was part of the defense system of western Transylvania . After the Turks withdrew in 1596, Gaspar Kornis was the lord of the castle, and in 1619 Gabriel Bethlen donated the fortress to the voivod Marcu-Cercel until it was conquered by the Turks again in 1658.

After the Peace of Karlowitz (1699), Arad and the Maroscher Land came under Austrian rule , while the Banat south of the Marosch remained under Turkish rule until the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) . On the Josephine land survey is Deszkna market entered.

As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Arad region, like the whole of Banat and Transylvania, was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy . The official place name was Dézna .

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the regulation of the borders , whereby Dezna fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
