history

The first written mention of the village of Hunc comes from the year 1386.

Over the centuries, different spellings of the place name appeared: 1386 Hunc , 1439 Hunnczteu , 1441 Hontheu , 1464 Honczfalwa , 1518 Gurahoncz , 1574 Honcz , 1601 Gaura , 1697 Gura , 1784 Honcz , 1715 Gurahoncz , 1808 Gurahoncz , 1839, 1851 Gurahoncz , 1839, 1851 Gurahoncz 1858, 1863 Gurahoncz , 1873, 1877 Gurahonc , 1881–1900 Gurahoncz , 1909 Gurahonţ , Gurahoncz , 1910 Honcztő , 1913 Honctő , Honctői , 1921 Gurahonţ , Honcztő , 1925 Gura-Honţ , 1932 Gurahonţ .

After the conquest of Timișoara (1552) in the First Austrian Turkish War , the Turks moved towards Kreischgebiet . In 1574 Bayezid was registered as the landlord of Gurahoncz. Various Hungarian noble families, such as the Borosbeny family, owned the estate in the 17th century.

After the Peace of Karlowitz (1699), Arad and the Maroscher Land came under Austrian rule , while the Banat south of the Marosch remained under Turkish rule until the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) . On the Josephine land survey is Gura Honcz entered. On the Josephine map it can be seen that Gura Honcz was on the left bank of the White Kreisch , while the villages of Iosaş and Iosăşel were on the right bank. Today Iosăşel is incorporated into Gurahonț.

As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Arad region, like the whole of Banat and Transylvania, was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy . The official place name was Gurahoncz .

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the regulation of borders , whereby Gurahonț fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
