history
The first written mention of the village of Boy comes from the year 1332. On the area of the municipality there was an earth fortress, Castrum Belland , to which the voivode Menumorut withdrew after the loss of his seat of government Biharia . This fortress was conquered by the Turks in 1541. Michael the Brave ruled here in the period 1599–1601.
After the Peace of Karlowitz (1699), Arad and the Maroscher Land came under Austrian rule , while the Banat south of the Marosch remained under Turkish rule until the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) . The Bell Fortress was conquered by the Habsburgs in 1711 . On the Josephine land survey is Varos Bell entered.
As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Arad region, like the whole of Banat and Transylvania, was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy . The official place name was Bél .
The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the regulation of borders , whereby Beliu fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
