Igneşti (German: Ignest , Ignesty , Hungarian: Ignafalva ) is a municipality in Arad County , in the Kreischgebiet , in western Romania . The villages of Minead , Nădălbeşti and Susani also belong to the Igneşti municipality .
Geographical location
Igneşti is located at the foot of the Codru-Moma Mountains , 89 km from the district capital Arad and seven km from Sebiş .

The first written mention of Agnafalva comes from 1553.
Over the centuries different spellings of the place name appeared: 1553, 1561 Agnafalva , 1622 Ignest , 1746, 1828 Ignesty , 1839, 1851 Ignesty , 1858 Ignesd , 1863, 1877 Ignest , 1882 Ignest , Ignesd , Ignesci , 1893, 1900 Ignest , 1909 Igneşti , Ignest , 1910, 1913 Ignafalva , 1921 Igneşti , Ignafalva , 1932 Igneşti .
After the Peace of Karlowitz (1699), Arad and the Maroscher Land came under Austrian rule , while the Banat south of the Marosch remained under Turkish rule until the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) . On the Josephine land survey is Ignesty entered.
As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Arad region, like the whole of Banat and Transylvania, was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy . The official place name was Ignafalva .
The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in border regulation, which Igneşti fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
