history
The first documentary mention of the Villa Sahtu comes from the year 1138 in a deed of donation from the Hungarian King Béla II , who donated several court estates to the Dumis Monastery.
A church was first mentioned in 1755 by the Arad bishop Sinesie Jivanovici. However, it is not known when the church was built. It is documented that in 1772 the construction of a new church was applied for, the construction of which begins in 1789, with the iconostasis being moved from the old church to the new one until Alexei Dusan and Dresce Vasile made a new iconostasis in 1871. In 1928 the church was painted by Iulian Toader.
After the Peace of Karlowitz (1699), Arad and the Maroscher Land came under Austrian rule , while the Banat south of the Marosch remained under Turkish rule until the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) . On the Josephine land survey is Sejtin entered.
As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Arad region, like the whole of Banat and Transylvania, was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the Austro-Hungarian dual monarchy . The official place name was Sajtény .
The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the regulation of the borders , whereby Șeitin fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
