Chanceaux is located about 32 kilometers northwest of Dijon on the Seine and is surrounded by Billy-lès-Chanceaux in the north, Poiseul-la-Grange in the northeast, Lamargelle in the east and northeast, Pellerey in the east, Poncey-sur-l'Ignon in the south , Source-Seine in the southwest and Frôlois in the west.
