Marsannay wine region
Here, as in the neighboring towns of Couchey and Chenôve, an excellent rosé , the Rosé de Marsannay , is made from the grapes of the Pinot Noir . Red and white Burgundy are also produced, but in terms of quality they do not come close to those of the neighboring communities in the south. The white wines are made from the Chardonnay or Pinot Blanc grape varieties . Since May 19, 1987, the wine-growing region has the status of an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée . On average, about 5800 hl red wine, 1530 hl rosé wine and 1440 hl white wine are produced annually.
