It belongs to the Arrondissement of Dijon and the canton of Is-sur-Tille (until 2015: canton of Grancey-le-Château-Neuvelle ). Residents of the municipality are called Barjonnais .

Barjon is located about 32 kilometers north of Dijon on the Langres plateau . Barjon is surrounded by the municipalities of Fraignot-et-Vesvrotte in the north, Avot in the east, Poiseul-lès-Saulx in the south and south-east, Le Meix in the south and south-west and Salives in the west.
