Genlis is a French commune with 5,315 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Côte-d'Or in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Dijon and is the capital of the canton of Genlis .

The municipality is located around 17 kilometers southeast of Dijon . Neighboring communities are:
