Gergueil is about 19 kilometers west-southwest of Dijon . The municipality is surrounded by Arcey in the north, Urcy in the northeast, Valforêt with Quemigny-Poisot in the east, Semezanges in the southeast, Ternant in the south and southeast, Saint-Jean-de-Bœuf in the southwest, and Saint-Victor-sur-Ouche in the west and south-west and Gissey-sur-Ouche in the north-west.
