The municipality is located 30 kilometers north of the city of Dijon on the Langres plateau on the border with the Haute-Marne department . Grancey-le-Château-Neuvelle is surrounded by Poinsenot in the north, Chalancey in the east, Courlon in the south and Beneuvre ung Minot in the west.
