Dijon Métropole is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Métropole in the department of Côte-d'Or in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It was founded on December 24, 1999 and comprises 23 parishes. The administrative headquarters are in the city of Dijon .

Historical development

The Communauté de l'agglomération Dijonnaise (COMADI) was founded on December 24, 1999 to replace the Dijon district. On January 1, 2004, the municipalities of Bressey-sur-Tille , Bretenière , Crimolois , Hauteville-lès-Dijon and Magny-sur-Tille joined; the following year, the Communauté de l'agglomération Dijonnaise was renamed Communauté d'agglomération du Grand Dijon , which is usually just called Grand Dijon . In 2007 the municipality of Fénay joined the community , on January 1, 2013 the municipalities of Corcelles-les-Monts and Flavignerot . With effect from January 1, 2015, the community association was raised to the legal form of a communauté urbaine . By decree of April 28, 2017, the association was named a metropolis.
