Willi Herrmann (born November 17, 1897 in Wiebelskirchen ; † February 17, 1944 in Butzbach prison ) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

After elementary school, Willi Herrmann trained as a locksmith at Neunkircher Eisenwerk from 1912 to 1915 . He worked there until 1918, then changed jobs several times until he was dismissed in May 1931. From 1917 he was active in the union. In 1927 he became a member of the Red Aid . In 1928 he became chairman of the "Proletarian Sports and Culture Cartel". He was also chairman of the Friends of Nature from 1930 to 1932 . In 1930 he joined the KPD . There he became political leader (chairman) in Wiebelskirchen and later also in Neunkirchen . In the united front he was chairman in Ottweiler and St. Wendel . As a KPD functionary, he had to emigrate in 1935 after the results of the vote were announced .

Willi Hermann went to France, where he organized the resistance for the entire Saarland as an illegal district leader of the KPD Saar. In October 1935 he traveled as a delegate to the Brussels conference of the KPD . From 1935 to 1937 he was then in Moscow at the International Lenin School and was then employed as a member of the Central Committee , first in Paris, then in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department . In 1939 he was interned in France and on May 30, 1942, he was placed in protective custody by the Gestapo . On November 21, 1942, he was 14 years prison sentenced. He died on February 17, 1944 under unexplained circumstances in Butzbach prison.

Willi Herrmann was married to Luise Herrmann-Ries from 1923 , who was also active in the KPD. The marriage produced a daughter.
