Willi Oberkrome

Willi Oberkrome (* 1959 in Detmold ) is a German historian .

Willi Oberkrome passed his Abitur in Detmold, studied history, German and pedagogy at the University of Bielefeld and was in 1992 with a thesis on folk history. Methodical innovation and ethnic ideology in German history 1918–1945, doctorate under Jürgen Kocka .

From 1993 to 1999 Oberkrome worked as a research assistant and scholarship holder at the Westphalian Institute for Regional History in Münster , before moving to Freiburg , where he worked as a research assistant with Ulrich Herbert and Franz-Josef Brüggemeier from 2000 to 2006 . In 2002 he completed his habilitation with an environmental-historical question on "German Homeland". National conception and regional practice of nature conservation, landscape design and cultural policy in Westphalia-Lippe and Thuringia.

His main research interests are the history of National Socialism , the history of historical science and the history of homeland and nature conservation in the 19th and 20th centuries. As part of the research project on the history of the German Research Foundation (DFG) led by Ulrich Herbert and Rüdiger von Bruch from 1920 to 1970, Oberkrome dealt with the importance of funding for agricultural research by the DFG and emphasized continuities such as the model for "people and freedom of food" occurring agricultural research in the 20th century.

Since 2002 he has represented several chairs and has been an adjunct professor at the University of Freiburg since 2009, where he has been Franz-Josef Brüggemeier's chair since the summer semester of 2012 . Oberkrome has been teaching continuously at the University of Freiburg in recent years due to the frequent exemptions from Freiburg chair holders for research activities at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies .
