Willi Schuh ( April 12, 1922 , † November 1995 ) was a German football player.

Career

Emerged from the youth team of FC Schalke 04 , Schuh moved up to the first team at the age of 17. Together with Herbert Burdenski and Bernhard Füller, he belonged to the so-called "third generation" of the Gelsenkirchner Club; he should replace the retired striker Willi Mecke . Despite his youth, he quickly fought for a regular place in the Schalke Sturm. This season he was with his team Westphalia champion and took part in the finals for the German championship. There he was used from the fourth group game on in all matches up to the final. He scored three goals in the 16-0 victory over CSC 03 Kassel ; in the semifinals he scored the 3-1 winner against SV Waldhof Mannheim . In total, Schuh scored six goals during this finals. With the 1-0 final win over Dresdner SC , he won his only senior title. In this encounter he was called up as a left winger. Although he was also part of the Schalke squad in the championship finals in 1941, 1943 and 1944, in which he was used a total of five times, he was never again in a final. When Schalke won their sixth title in 1942, he wasn't part of the final squad at all. He played until the end of the 1948/49 season for FC Schalke 04 in one of the top leagues that had been newly founded since 1945 and then ended his career as a football player.
