Bernhard Füller

Bernhard Füller (born December 8, 1921 in Gelsenkirchen ; † June 28, 1943 near Chotin , Soviet Union ), nicknamed "Natz", was a German football player.

Career

Füller belonged to the "third generation" of Schalke and, like Herbert Burdenski and Willi Schuh, came from their own youth in 1939. As an 18-year-old he was a regular player on the right wing of the "Knappen". He was a member of the team that became Gaumeister Westfalen on February 4, 1940; In the Revierderby against Borussia Dortmund he scored three goals in a 7-0 draw. In July, he belonged to the team at Berlin's Olympic Stadium on that in the final of the German championship in 1940 the Dresdner SC 1: 0 defeated. Füller and his teammates brought the fifth championship title to Gelsenkirchen. Also in the following year he was with the Royal Blue Gaumeister Westphalia. In the lost final of the German championship in 1941 against SK Rapid Wien in the Olympic Stadium, he also took part, although he had joined the Wehrmacht six weeks earlier ; he was also released for the cup final against Dresden in November.

Füller fell on June 28, 1943 near Chotin, around 25 km north of Sumy in what is now Ukraine .
