Willi Wahl
Friedrich Wilhelm "Willi" Wahl (born October 23, 1927 in Duisburg ; † July 9, 2019 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).
After graduating from elementary school, he began an apprenticeship as a gardener, which he had to break off in 1944 in order to do his military service. After the war, he completed his apprenticeship, but then retrained as a bricklayer in 1948: he was employed by Deutsche Edelstahlwerke until his early retirement .
From 1959 to 1988 he was the first authorized representative and managing director of IG Metall in Krefeld . He was a member of the Krefeld City Council from 1970 to 1975 and from 1979 to 1994. From 1979 to 1984 he was district chairman of the Fischeln district council . From 1984 to 1989 he was mayor and from 1989 to 1994 lord mayor of the city of Krefeld.
Willi Wahl was married and had five children.
