Willi Zander (born March 5, 1946 in Düren ) is a former German football player .

Career

The striker Willi Zander began his career with Sportfreunde Düren and came to SC Jülich in 1968 via Schwarz-Weiß Düren , with whom he became German amateur champion in 1969 after a 2-1 final win over SpVgg Erkenschwick . Zander then moved to the regional league team Bonner SC , as Jülich waived a possible promotion. After a year in Bonn, he switched to the southern regional league team Karlsruher SC in the summer of 1970 , with Zander becoming runner-up in 1971. In the promotion round to the Bundesliga , however, the KSC failed at VfL Bochum .

A year later, Willi Zander moved to the western regional division SVA Gütersloh , with whom he missed qualification for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga in 1974 . A year later, Zander was third in the German amateur championship with the SVA before returning to Jülich in the summer of 1975. Willi Zander played a total of 125 regional league games and scored 28 goals, including 30 games (ten goals) for Bonn, 44 games (seven goals) for Karlsruhe and 51 games (eleven goals) for Gütersloh.

After the end of his career, he worked as a chauffeur for the respective mayors of Jülich and retired in 2010.
