William Arthur Bone

William Arthur Bone (born March 19, 1871 in Stockton-on-Tees , † June 11, 1938 ) was an English chemist .

Bone graduated from the University in Manchester and received his doctorate in 1893 at Victor Meyer at the University of Heidelberg . He was then a lecturer in Manchester and from 1906 professor of fuels at the University of Leeds . In 1912 he moved to Imperial College London . In 1936 he retired.

Bone dealt with the combustion of hydrocarbons and the chemistry and mechanics of flames and explosions.

In 1936 he received the Davy Medal . He was a Fellow of the Royal Society (1905) and gave its Bakerian Lecture in 1932 .
