William Edwin Franklin

William Edwin Franklin (born May 3, 1930 in Parnell ) is former Bishop of Davenport .

Life

William Edwin Franklin was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Dubuque on February 4, 1956 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Dubuque and titular bishop of Surista on January 29, 1987 . The Archbishop of Dubuque, Daniel William Kucera OSB , donated him episcopal ordination on April 1st of the same year ; Co-consecrators were James Joseph Byrne , Senior Archbishop of Dubuque, and Francis John Dunn , Auxiliary Bishop of Dubuque.

He was named Bishop of Davenport on November 12, 1993 and inducted into the office on January 20 of the next year. On October 12, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
