William "Billy" Garrett (born April 24, 1933 in Princeton , † February 15, 1999 in Glendale ) was an American racing driver .

Career

William Garrett started twice in his career at the Indianapolis 500 , which was classified as the Formula 1 World Championship race from 1950 to 1960 . At his first start in 1956 he reached 16th place on a Kuzma - Offenhauser, 6 laps behind the winner Pat Flaherty . Two years later, in 1958 , he drove a Kurtis Kraft 500G Offenhauser. Garrett retired early this time. With damage to the camshaft, he stopped on lap 80.
