William Marino Guerra (born February 24, 1968 in Detroit , Michigan ) is a retired San Marinese soccer player . With 40 internationals, he is one of the players with the most appearances for the San Marinese national team .

Career

Guerra began his career in 1987 at ASD Tropical Coriano and then played for various clubs in San Marino and Italy . For the San Marino national team , he played 40 international matches, making him one of the players with the most appearances for San Marino. He played his last game for the national team on June 4, 1999 in a qualifier for the European Football Championship 2000 against Spain , that game was lost 9-0. In 2004 he ended his career.

Trivia

Like most other footballers in San Marino, Guerra was an amateur footballer and works full-time as a painter . Ahead of a game against Wales in 1996, Guerra said that if San Marino took a point he would paint the houses of all his friends for free. This did not happen, however, as San Marino lost the home and away game 5-0 at home and 6-0 away.
