William Irvin Troutman (1943)

William Irvin Troutman (born January 13, 1905 in Shamokin , Northumberland County , Pennsylvania , †  January 27, 1971 there ) was an American politician . Between 1943 and 1945 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Troutman attended public schools in his home country. In 1927 he graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and his admission as a lawyer in 1930, he began to work in Shamokin in this profession. Between 1939 and 1943 he worked as a Special Attorney for Pennsylvania . Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party .

In the 1942 congressional election , Troutman was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the then state-wide 33rd  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Democrat Elmer J. Holland on January 3, 1943 . Since he renounced another candidacy in 1944, he could remain in Congress until his resignation on January 2, 1945, one day before the official end of the legislative period. This time was marked by the events of the Second World War .

In 1945, William Troutman was a member of the Pennsylvania Senate . Between 1946 and 1966 he served as a judge on the Northumberland County Court of Appeals. He then served as a senior judge assistant judge at the Philadelphia Court of Appeals. He died on January 27, 1971 in his birthplace Shamokin, where he was also buried.
