William LeBaron

William LeBaron (born February 16, 1883 in Elgin , Illinois , † February 9, 1958 in Santa Monica , California ) was an American composer, writer and film producer.

LeBaron studied at the University of Chicago and New York University . He wrote many Broadway pieces, libretti and songs, worked as a journalist and from 1919 to 1924 as manager of the New York film company Cosmopolitan Productions .

In 1924, LeBaron went to Hollywood and began producing films for Famous Players-Laski . He then became head of the studio at FBO and in 1929 at RKO Pictures , which was founded in the same year , but had to give way to David Selznick in October 1931 . He then went to Paramount , where he stayed until 1942, when he moved to 20th Century Fox . Notable films that LeBaron has produced are Fine Manners (1926), The Case of Sergeant Grischa (1930), Das ist vorschlag (1934), Easy Living (1937), Midnight - Revelation at Midnight (1939) and Remember the Night ( 1940). As a producer, he has been involved in more than 200 productions.

LeBaron was married to the British singer and actress Mabel Hollins .
