William Martin Croll (1923)

William Martin Croll (born April 9, 1866 in Upper Macungie , Lehigh County , Pennsylvania , †  October 21, 1929 in Reading , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1923 and 1925 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Croll attended his home public schools and Keystone State Normal School in Kutztown . He then graduated from Eastman Business College in Poughkeepsie, New York State . He then taught as a teacher for some time. In 1889 he moved to Maxatawny , where he worked in trade. From 1897 he worked in Reading in the clothing trade and banking. Between 1909 and 1912 he was a treasurer in Berks County ; from 1913 to 1918 he served as a Naval Officer in the Port of Philadelphia . Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party . In 1912 and 1920 he took part as a delegate at their Democratic National Conventions .

In the 1922 congressional election , Croll was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 14th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Louis Thomas McFadden on March 4, 1923 . Since he was not confirmed in 1924, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1925 . After serving in the US House of Representatives, William Croll resumed his previous activities. He died in Reading on October 21, 1929.
