William Russell (1998)

William Russell (born November 19, 1924 in Sunderland, County Durham , United Kingdom) is a British actor .

life and career

William Russell Enoch appeared in some film and television productions in the 1950s. He has appeared in the television series St. Ives , The Adventures of Sir Lancelot , Tales from Dickens and Nicholas Nickleby, among others. In the cinema he played supporting roles in the war films The Man Who Never Was and Escape in Chains . In addition to film and television appearances, Russell appeared in many plays. Among other things, he appeared in The Tempest and Measure for Measure at the Royal Shakespeare Theater in 1970 , and also appeared at the National Theater and the Globe Theater . He also toured with the theater in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Ireland, Sweden and Romania.

In 1963 Russell got the role of Ian Chesterton in Doctor Who . He, Jacqueline Hill, and Carole Ann Ford played the Doctor's first companions . After two and a half years, Russell and Hill decided to get out of the series and focus on other projects. In 2013, the film An Adventure in Space and Time was shot by Doctor Who over the first few years . Jamie Glover played the young William Russell. William Russell was also seen as a security guard in the film.

William Russell's second wife was the medical doctor Balbina Gutierrez. With this he had a son in 1988, Alfred Enoch . He also works as an actor. For example, Enoch was seen as Dean Thomas in Harry Potter .
