William Turner (diplomat)
William Turner (* 1792 , † 10. January 1867 in Leamington Spa ) was a British diplomat .
Life
Turner entered the diplomatic service at the age of 18 and was assigned to the British Embassy in Constantinople in 1811 . Ambassador Robert Liston gave him the opportunity to travel extensively in the Middle East. In 1820 Turner published a travelogue entitled Journal of a Tour in the Levant .
In 1824 he returned to Constantinople as Secretary of the Embassy. From 1829 to 1838 he served as an envoy extraordinary (English Envoy Extraordinary ) in Colombia.
