William Wilson Potter

William Wilson Potter (born December 18, 1792 in Potters Mills , Center County , Pennsylvania , †  October 28, 1839 in Bellefonte , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1837 and 1839 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Potter attended public schools in Bellefonte and then graduated from Dickinson College in Carlisle . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1814, he began to work in this profession. Politically, he later joined the Democratic Party .

In the 1836 congressional election , Potter was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 14th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Joseph Henderson on March 4, 1837 . After being re-elected, he could remain in Congress until his death on October 28, 1839 .
