Willy Becker (General Manager)
Willy Becker ( April 21, 1881 in Erfurt - September 10, 1956 in Augsburg ) was a German theater director and director .
Life
Becker studied music and art history at the Universities of Göttingen, Munich and Leipzig, where he on the subject of the poetic in the biblical representations Rembrandt Dr. phil. PhD. There he was also an assistant at the art history institute.
From 1907 to 1912 he was a dramaturge and director at the Berlin Schillertheater. In 1912 he went to Freiburg im Breisgau as an opera director for a year and then worked in Cologne in the same function until 1918.
From 1918 to 1920 he was director of the city theaters of Essen and Bochum, from 1920 to 1925 in Düsseldorf and Duisburg and from 1925 to 1938 in Bremen. In 1938 he went to Augsburg as artistic director, where he lived until 1945. From 1949 to 1953 he worked there again.
