Erich Pabst

Erich Adolf Pabst ( November 23, 1890 in Elberfeld - September 8, 1955 in Osnabrück ) was a German actor , theater director and director, and screenwriter .

Life

From 1919 Pabst worked as an actor in Berlin and became a director and member of the management staff at the Deutsches Theater with Max Reinhardt . From 1926 to 1930 he headed the Bergtheater Thale and the Osnabrück Theater . In 1931 he went to the Augsburg Theater as artistic director , where he remained until 1936. During this time Aurel von Milloss was director of the dance theater (1932–1934), and he also succeeded in engaging Richard Strauss as a conductor to two guest performances in Augsburg: in 1933 for Arabella at the Stadttheater and in 1936 for Elektra ( open-air stage ; production: Walter Oehmichen ) . Under his directorship, the conductor Paul Frankenburger was dismissed. From 1936 to 1938 he was director of the Berlin comedy theater , from 1938 to 1944 director of the Münster Theater . 1950 to 1955 he worked again in Osnabrück as such.
