Louis Ucko

Louis Ucko ( February 23, 1838 in Schreibendorf , Silesia - June 4, 1897 in Berlin ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ) and theater director .

Life

After he had worked as a hero tenor at outstanding stages, including in Mainz, Stettin, Breslau, but especially in Hamburg (1870 to 1873) and Stuttgart (1871 to 1881) and had always enjoyed great popularity as an artist, he took over the management in 1882 of the Augsburg city theater , which he led unsuccessfully for a year. After that he also worked in Brno and Rotterdam. In 1889 he withdrew completely from stage life and died on June 4, 1897 in Berlin.

His daughter Paula Ucko (1879–1932) was a soprano .
