Willy Bille

Carl Vilhelm "Willy" Bille (born April 17, 1889 in Copenhagen ; † September 21, 1944 there ) was a Danish painter . He mainly painted maritime motifs, still lifes and landscapes - especially scenes from Copenhagen.

Life

Willy Bille initially suitable as a self-taught knowledge of painting at, later became a pupil of his father Vilhelm Bille and studied as a scholarship in 1928 at the Art Academy in Copenhagen and Paris .

Willy Bille's paintings, which were influenced by the French Impressionist style, were represented at numerous exhibitions (including several times between 1912 and 1938 at the Royal Danish Art Academy at Charlottenborg Palace ) and are now in museums and private collections - inside and outside Denmark. In 1925 Willy Bille received the Carlson Prize , in 1930 the Lis Jacobsen Prize .

Carl Vilhelm Bille used the name Willy in order to avoid confusion with his father Vilhelm Bille and his grandfather Carl Bille - both also well-known painters.

Willy Bille used “WB” or “WBille” as signature ( monogram ) - whereby the right line of the “W” forms the left line of the “B” - and the line of the “B” is in the lower belly of the “B” “Is screwed in or pulled far down.
