Willy Gerding
Willy Gerding (born February 22, 1879 in Gotha , † October 10, 1917 in Greifswald ) was a German local politician and mayor of Greifswald.
Willy Gerding attended grammar school in Gotha; He passed his Abitur in 1897 in Gera. He studied at the universities of Leipzig and Jena Jura . In 1906 he passed the state examination and received his doctorate in the same year at Jena University.
In 1909/10 he was councilor and mayor of Greifswald from 1910 to 1917. He represented the city in the Prussian manor house .
His special merits are the acquisition of district freedom for the city in 1913, the construction of the theater and town hall , the Krull School, the waterworks in Groß Schönwalde and the first Pomeranian crematorium .
In 1936 a street in Greifswald was named after him.
