Willy Hengl

Willy Hengl (born October 4, 1927 in Litschau ; † January 22, 1997 ) was an Austrian painter and photographer .

Willy Hengl came to Haag (Lower Austria) with his parents in 1938 . He trained as an academic painter and initially designed sgraffitis on house facades . As a vocational school teacher in Linz , he came to amateur photography and artistic photography . Hengl was an extraordinary member of the artists ' association Künstlerhaus Wien from 1981 to 1986 . The house built according to his plans in the city of Haag in the 1950s is also used as an art museum and meeting place for artists.

At the beekeeping school of the Upper Austrian Beekeeping Association there is a sgraffito by Willy Hengl from 1965.

The artist was internationally successful, especially with his photographs, and received numerous achievement and honorary titles from all over the world. He has won several Austrian state prizes. In 1985 he was the initiator of the Traun City Gallery together with Heinz Begsteiger .
