Willy Maria Stucke

Willy Maria Stucke (born February 7, 1909 in Bonn ; † 1987 there ) was a German painter , graphic artist and illustrator .

Life

Stucke was born as the son of the Bonn history painter Willy Stucke (1880–1952). In 1928/29 he attended the art academies in Düsseldorf and Hamburg . There Stucke studied a. a. at Beckerath . Later he teaches at the Institute for Art Education at the University of Bonn .

In 1949, Stucke succeeded his father as chairman of the Bonner Künstlerbund founded in 1946 , which he dissolved again in 1951 in protest against the inadequate city exhibition opportunities. From 1953 Stucke was chairman of the newly founded and still existing artist group Bonn. In the years 1952 to 1985 he went on numerous study trips, including a. to Brasil. 1986 Stucke received a scholarship from the city of Bonn.

Stuckes artistic career was initially by the father of traditional history painting loaded. At first he leaned on the Rhenish expressionists . He was friends with Hans Thuar and Franz Jansen . He later found his own formal language, which was particularly influenced in the woodcut by HAP Grieshaber and his friendship with Joseph Fassbender .
