action

This time, private detective Georg Wilsberg has to help his best friend Ekki. Somebody hit a young woman in his car and now Ekki is being accused. Since he celebrated the first lawsuit won on that evening with Wilsberg, Alex and their client Manuel, neither he nor Wilsberg can remember anything.

Wilsberg tries to prove Ekki's innocence and looks around the scene of the accident. He surprisingly meets his old schoolmate Klas Teunissen, who lives there and may have seen the accident, but initially denies it. Only when Wilsberg speaks to him again can he confirm that Ekki was definitely not the driver. Wilsberg has strong doubts about Teunissen's memory and, based on some evidence, considers it possible that he himself drove Ekki's car.

Wilsberg does not consider it to be a coincidence that Teunissen has moved into an apartment exactly opposite Gordon Haller, the friend of the casualty. When Haller suddenly disappears, Wilsberg is convinced that Teunissen is behind it. He finds out that his son Daniel died some time ago in Iraq while he was working for the Haller company. Wilsberg tries to track down the kidnapper, which he succeeds in doing, but falls into the hands of Teunissen and his friend Stefan Wehnert. Teunissen, however, is not interested in the ransom that Gordon's father has paid in the meantime, but only in revenge: son against son, because he blames Haller's father for the death of his child. In the meantime, Commissioner Springer has been informed by Lennart Haller about the disappearance of his son and is able to free him and Wilsberg. Teunissen and Wehnert are arrested.

While Wilsberg is looking for the kidnapped Haller, Alex accidentally finds out that her client Manuel secretly took Ekki's car keys during their joint celebration. Together with his girlfriend, who was then behind the wheel, they were both on their way home under the influence of alcohol when the accident with Babette Behrendt suddenly occurred. So Manuel has to answer again in court.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv rated it positively and said, The Man at the Window “is a versatile crime thriller that in the meantime - unusual for 'Wilsberg' - toying more with the drama than with the comedy.” The “Strong Book” which Sönke Lars Neuwöhner linked the "ostensibly tragic, but manageable story with an unexpected background", was staged by Reinhard Münster "unspectacular, but extremely captivating."

The TV Spielfilm editorial team gave the crime thriller a "thumbs up" and said with praise: "After a routine prelude to an emotional tragedy."
