action

Ekki is looking forward to his announced promotion to deputy department head. To his disappointment, however, a colleague is appointed internally. Ekki suspects that the reason is that she has a secret relationship with Grabowski, but Wilsberg only finds out a relationship with the lawyer Rainer Rohr when he traces her to Ekki's request.

His ex-girlfriend Silke Sestendrup is waiting for him in Ekki's apartment and tells him that he is the father of her six-year-old daughter Hanna. With Alex's assistance, she is suing him for retrospective maintenance payments . Ekki turns to the lawyer Rainer Rohr, who has a high success rate in rejecting paternity suits. Rohr first had a parentage report drawn up, which, to Ekki's surprise, had a positive outcome. He begins to feel comfortable in his father role and befriends Hanna. When he was picking her up from kindergarten one day, he was astonished to meet his stalking and violent ex-girlfriend Tina Espenkotte, who worked there as a teacher and immediately provoked him again.

During the last visit to Rainer Rohr, Ekki is attacked on his terrace by a group of masked women demonstrating against the lawyer’s misogynistic work. Since Rainer Rohr left his office shortly before, the women let out their anger on Ekki. A video of the attack on Ekki is uploaded to the network. Rainer Rohr does not appear again. Later, his wife receives a ransom note and turns to Wilsberg.

Ekki notices that Hanna's eyes are green, while he and Silke have blue eyes. Together with Wilsberg he visits the laboratory that carried out his paternity test - his ex-girlfriend Kerstin Buckebrede works there. She explains the color of the eyes based on Mendel's rules and considers an error in the paternity test to be excluded. Wilsberg has secretly taken Ekki and Hanna's smears with her from the laboratory and persuades Anna Springer to carry out the paternity test again with the police. This is negative.

With Merle's help, a digital voice assistant at Kerstin's workplace is hacked and recorded all the conversations. When confronted with these recordings, Kerstin confesses that the first paternity test was manipulated. The laboratory has already delivered incorrect results for Rainer Rohr several times in return for appropriate payment.

Hanna's father turns out to be a freelance architect (with green eyes), against whom Silke Sestendrup (represented by Rainer Rohr) had lost the trial, which is why she wanted to take revenge on Rohr and also bring Ekki up as a paying father. The masked attack on Ekki was initiated by the three ex-girlfriends, but they deny that they were involved in Rohr's kidnapping. Wilsberg finds out that Rohr was kidnapped by his own wife, who wants to divorce him, but considers a maintenance suit to be hopeless because of an unfavorable marriage contract. She escaped when the money was handed over, but was later stopped in front of her apartment.

In the end, Ekki's ex-girlfriends made up with him and are happy about what a good godfather he is for Hanna. When he discovered in the tax office that his competitor for the management position was heavily involved in tax fraud, this conflict was also resolved and the position was now properly advertised.

The plot is interspersed with Overbeck's new quirk as a determined feminist, who comes up with appropriate slogans at every opportunity and is involved in the women's aid organization to which Ekki's ex-girlfriends belong.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff is satisfied with tittelbach.tv : “Vaterfreuden” is a celebration for loyal “Wilsberg” viewers and especially for the fans of Ekkehardt Talkötter [...] The twisty comedy is on the edge of a thriller, but compensated for it Martin Enlen's usual carefully staged film thanks to an excellent ensemble performance.

Wilfried Geldner sees it similarly in prisma : The 68th "Wilsberg", "Vaterfreuden", probably beats everything else in comic elements that happened in the previous 67 cases. Which means something in a crime comedy series. It's wild and funny, at least on the dialogue track. Some permanent roles are so alienated that you can hardly recognize them. [...] Who wanted to complain about the ultimately dry plot? Or complain about the actors, who sometimes over-subscribe, when the script gives everything?
