Wim Hogenkamp (born June 14, 1947 in Groningen , † February 5, 1989 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch actor, songwriter and singer.

Career

Hogenkamp began his career as a performer in commercials. After training as an actor with Fien Berghegge , he got a few smaller roles, mainly in independent productions. In 1974/75 he played the role of Anthony van Slingelandt Jr. in the children's crime series Q & Q. Hogenkamp appeared in supporting roles in The Bridge of Arnhem by Richard Attenborough and Pastorale 1943 by Wim Verstappen .

From the late 1970s he worked as a songwriter for various artists. Together with Frank Affolter , the song De mallemolen was created in 1977 , with which Affolter's sister Heddy Lester came twelfth at the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson . This resulted in a long-term collaboration for Lester's solo programs. 1978 and 1981 two albums were created as a solo artist. In 1981 he performed with the singers Lori Spee and Suzanne Michaels at the Kneistival music festival .

From the 1980s he headed the De Suikerhof theater café on Amsterdam's Prinsengracht , where he gave a forum for young artists in particular to perform. Towards the end of the 1980s he fell ill from the consequences of his HIV infection. On February 5, 1989, Hogenkamp was found shot dead in his apartment. The exact circumstances of his death could never be clarified.

Awards

As a lyricist, Hogenkamp received the Louis David Prize in 1978 for the song Afscheid . In 1979 his album Heel Gewoon was awarded an Edison .
