The Windsurf World Cup 2020 is expected to start with the Wave World Cup in Pozo Izquierdo ( Spain ) in early July 2020 and end with the Aloha Classic on Maui ( USA ) from October 28 to November 12, 2020.

Even before the start of the season, at the end of February, the World Cups in Yokosuka ( Japan ) and Ulsan ( Korea ) were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . After other events were canceled or postponed in the following weeks, the organizer of the largest tour stop, the Windsurf World Cup Sylt , announced in mid-May that the event would be canceled. At the end of May, the events in the Canaries were also canceled. So there were only four events left for the 2020 season.

Changes

For this season, a star rating will be introduced, which classifies the various events and is intended to ensure that smaller events can also be classified as World Cups.

  • 1 ★ to 3 ★: less than the minimum prize money, lower points for the ratings
  • 4 ★: a discipline for men or women
  • 5 ★: a discipline for men and women
  • 6 ★: more than two disciplines or more than the minimum prize money
  • 7 ★: more than two disciplines and more than the minimum prize money

In addition, the men's slalom and foil disciplines are combined by driving a slalom course with normal material when there is enough wind and with foil material when there is less wind.
