Winfried Beck

Winfried Beck (born June 2, 1943 in Brettheim ) is a German doctor ( specialist in orthopedics ) with many years of involvement in health policy .

Life

Beck studied medicine in Frankfurt am Main and Heidelberg. State examination in 1968. In the same year doctorate on an orthopedic-radiological topic: The Discography at the Accident Hospital Frankfurt am Main. 1968–1977 he was a clinician. In 1975 he was recognized as a specialist in orthopedics. From 1977 to 2002 he practiced in a joint practice for orthopedics in Frankfurt am Main. Beck has been admitted to the social courts as a medical expert since 2002. From 2002 to 2010 he participated in the Institute of Occupational Medicine of the Clinical Center of the JW Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main to research on occupational diseases of the musculoskeletal system .

Political career

Since 1972 Beck has been a member of the board of directors of the Federation of Trade Union Doctors (BgÄ) within the ÖTV union , Frankfurt am Main district. 1976–1990 he was the deputy district chairman of the Association of Victims of the Nazi Regime - Association of Antifascists (VVN – BdA). In 1976 Beck was a founding member of the list of democratic doctors in Hessen and until 1996 its top candidate in the elections for the State Medical Association of Hessen (LÄKH). In this function he was a delegate in the State Medical Association and at the German Medical Conference from 1976–1996 . Beck was a founding member of the LÄKH's Environment and Medicine Committee . The nationwide working group lists of democratic doctors was coordinated by him. In 1985 he was a founding member of the Association of Democratic Doctors (vdää) and from 1985-2003 its chairman. Since then he has been a member of the extended board of the vdää .

In 1988 Beck visited the Republic of South Africa at the invitation of the ANC . As chairman of the vdää , he organized campaigns against apartheid together with the National Medical and Dental Association of South Africa (NAMDA) .

The main focuses of his political work are: opposition to medical professional politics , human rights issues from a medical perspective, abuse of medicine, patient rights , environmental medicine , economization of medicine, pharmaceutical criticism.
