Winfried Eckel

Winfried Eckel (* 1960 in Wipperfürth ) is a German comparatist and teaches at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz .

Eckel studied German , philosophy , history and education at the University of Bonn and received his doctorate in 1993. He worked as a research assistant at the Distance University in Hagen and at the Ruhr University in Bochum . He received his habilitation in Bochum . In the winter semester 2005/2006 he was appointed professor at the University of Mainz.

Eckel's research focuses on Romanticism and analyzes the relationship between literature and music .
