Winfried Philipp Englert

Winfried Philipp Englert (born October 27, 1860 in Lengfurt ; † April 2, 1934 in Wiesbaden ) was a Catholic priest , professor and theologian .

Life

He studied Catholic theology. After his ordination on August 5, 1883, he was then chaplain in Heidingsfeld near Würzburg and in Mömbris , Deanery Alzenau. From 1886 he was on leave to continue studying. From 1889 to 1891 he taught as a professor at the archiepiscopal seminary in Poznan . After graduation in 1889 to Dr. theol. and the doctorate in 1891 to Dr. phil. he became on October 17, 1891 associate professor for apologetics and introductory sciences (propaedeutics) at the Catholic Theol. Faculty of the University of Bonn appointed. On June 10, 1898 he was appointed full professor for apologetics and social policy. On May 10, 1911, he was released from his official duties at his own request (the lectures in his subject were canceled for two semesters). On May 3, 1911, he was installed as the real canon of the collegiate chapter in Aachen (he had already moved to Aachen in April ). After the excardation from the Diocese of Würzburg in 1917, the bearer of the Red Eagle Order IV class was presumably incardinated in the Archdiocese of Cologne or the later Diocese of Aachen .
