Career

Winifred W. Logan was born on May 9, 1931. She was trained as a nurse at the University of Edinburgh , where she also did her Masters . Logan moved to Columbia University in New York City and received another Masters in Nursing there in 1966 . In the course of her career (around 1950), Logan met foreign patients who had experienced some kind of cultural shock in a Canadian tuberculosis and lung clinic. This led them to realize that caregivers should consider biological, psychological, sociocultural and environmental needs in caring. Logan returned to the nursing department at the University of Edinburgh in 1962 to teach. She was also appointed Head of Nursing Education in Scotland during the 1960s .

Logan became Executive Director of the International Council of Nurses and Advisor to the World Health Organization in Malaysia , Europe and Iraq . At the invitation of Roper, Roper, Logan and Tierney (also at the University of Edinburgh) then worked together to develop their nursing theory from 1976 and 1980. Logan eventually went to Abu Dhabi as head of nursing at the Ministry of Health and helped there the establishment and establishment of nursing services.

Logan died in 2010, the date and place of death are unknown.
