Winnetou, the red gentleman: drama in 6 pictures based on Karl May's travel story was the title of theplay " Winnetou " by Hermann Dimmler ,revisedby Ludwig Körner , whichpremieredin December 1929 in Berlin .

implementation

Körner implemented the nine pictures of the Dimmler play in "6 pictures", largely taking pictures 1–4 from Dimmler and combining pictures 5–8 to form “From the Elbe to Arkansas”.

Performances

Koerner's new version was tried out for the first time on the Renaissance stage in Vienna in 1928 : with the participation of Ludwig Koerner as Old Shatterhand and directed by Josef Jarno (with brief guest appearances in Graz and Baden ).

After the Berlin premiere with the participation and direction of Ludwig Körner, the new Dimmler / Körner version was performed several times, namely in:

Dimmler / Körner's “Winnetou” can also be traced back to the following locations: 1938 Hildesheim City Theater, 1939 Halberstadt City Theater, Munich Volkstheater, Beuthen State Theater; 1940 Halle City Theater.

Ludwig Körner himself played the Old Shatterhand in several performances.

Körner's adaptation was re-enacted by numerous other theaters until the 1970s.
