Winnetou , the play from the Indian life in six pictures based on Karl May's travel story by Dr. K. Hermann Dimmler. Staged and arranged for the Renaissance stage by Ludwig Körner is a dramatization of the Winnetou trilogy by Karl May and was premiered in 1928 on the Renaissance stage in Vienna by Josef Jarno.

implementation

Körner implemented the piece in “6 pictures”, largely taking over 1–4 from Dimmler and combining 5–8 into “From the Elbe to Arkansas”.

Changes: Nscho-chi's appearance as a bear hunter is canceled. The Helldorf Settlement section includes motifs from The Oil Prince and Christmas! Flowed in, z. B. when he added Rosalie Ebersbach (here "Aunt Emma") to the emigrants. Neither the song “Ave Maria” nor the poem “Christmas Eve” are used for Winnetou's death at Christmas; Winnetou dies on " Silent Night, Holy Night ".

In addition to "Aunt Emma", Peter, Bancroft and Winklay are new characters. Santer is given the first name "Fred".

Performances

This new version was first played on the Renaissance stage in Vienna in 1928 . Shortly afterwards, the piece was performed as a three-day guest performance in Graz and at least once in Baden . Other venues:

Ludwig Körner himself played the Old Shatterhand in several performances.

Körner's adaptation was re-enacted by numerous other theaters until the 1970s.
