Winston Joseph Field MBE (born June 6, 1904 in Bromsgrove , Great Britain , † March 17, 1969 in Salisbury , Rhodesia ) was a Rhodesian politician. He emigrated to Southern Rhodesia in 1921 . He owned a tobacco farm near Marandellas and was President of the Rhodesian Tobacco Association between 1938 and 1940 . After the 1962 election, Field became Prime Minister for the Rhodesian Front . His party accused him of not advocating the independence of Rhodesia from Great Britain emphatically enough. His party urged him to resign on April 2, 1964, and was succeeded by Ian Smith on April 14, 1964 .
