Wir Südtiroler is a South Tyrolean party that primarily appeals to voters in the German and Ladin languages.

history

On June 4, 2013, Thomas Egger , who had been a member of the Die Freiheitlichen in the South Tyrolean state parliament since 2008 , founded his own party and parliamentary group called Wir Südtiroler . In the 2013 state elections , the party entered into a list alliance with the Ladins Dolomites and the BürgerUnion . In the state elections, the BürgerUnion-Ladins Dolomites-Wir Südtiroler list alliance received 2.1% of the votes. Andreas Pöder from the BürgerUnion was elected to the state parliament with 3,045 preferential votes for the list alliance. Due to differences, especially in national politics, but also because of the election recommendation of the Citizens Union to vote for the Northern League in the European elections , the Citizens Union-Ladins Dolomites-Wir Südtiroler alliance broke up in March 2014. With that, Andreas Pöder was again exclusively a member of the Citizens Union in the South Tyrolean state parliament and the We South Tyroleans party was no longer represented in the state parliament.

aims

The party sees itself as a force of the democratic center with a social character and as a political representative of the German and Ladin minorities in South Tyrol. The party is committed to more direct democracy. It also wants to increase the participation and voice of citizens. Furthermore, the party We South Tyroleans wants to expand the autonomy of South Tyrol and enforce the right to self-determination in the long term. She advocates a united, but federally structured Europe.
